Roosevelt was 63 when he died who not only suffered with polio for 20 years prior to his death and 12 years prior to his first presidency term, he was also a lifetime chain smoker. I'm willing to bet the smoking was more than likely the culprit for his other afflictions that being long time heart disease and high blood pressure. Also the great physical exertion which came with dealing with polio didn't help matters either but probably compounded them all. The point of this diatribe is to merely point out McCain's age does not disqualify him to run for president. If you argue his politics and viewpoints then okay then you would have a legitimate statement. Btw screw Obama and McCain both;p +4 reply

At lease two major roads named after MLK. in every major city in the US. (small thing) The united negro fund. (gee I wonder if there is a united caucasian, asian, indian fund?) The BET channel. The list is all most endless. I grew up during the woes is me I am black period. I had to work hard for every thing I needed no grants, no hand outs , no daddy paid for this and that. . I was out of the nest at 17 and paid 100% for college , car, apartment. and dammed proud about it. I had no special treatment at all because of my race. and yes I am white. The first real job I applied for was lost because the government employer had to hire more minorities. Regardless of their skill. I was a temp at SRP (google it and it doesn't use salt.) and I was there 4 years and knew the person that was hired in the position I applied for. He had it made. He sat on his ass 90% of the time and knew he could get away with it and not get fired. How f**ked is that. reply

• dvs1 posted 1 month ago rate it: good poor Take NOTE: America has gone soft. We no longer make our own goods that we need to survive. We can not survive without foreign energy sources. 80% of the cars on our roads are foreign. almost 100% of our electronic products are made outside the US. The sad thing is that the technology is here and viable. Each home has enough roof surface area for solar collectors that can power the entire home and during peak sun can supplement the grid. Or use the excess power to generate hydrogen to power fuel cells for when there is not enough sun or to power your car. Don't say it is too expensive because it is not. Thats if the big oil companies will quit holding us back. I will not buy another gasoline car I will keep the cars I have as long as I can. Car manufactures are you listening? I have already have a rainwater collection system that supplies all my water for watering my lawn , flushing my toilets, washing my clothes and showers. The city water only goes to my wash basins. My water bill has been a third. reply

• dvs1 posted 1 month ago rate it: good poor of what it was before I installed the system. Yes I had to install a second hot water heater but it is an electric on demand heater. All I have to do is to add chlorine to the rainwater to get rid of any nasties. So far even with the drought I have not had to switch to city water. (If the rainwater system is low on water the system will automatically switch over to city water.) The hardest thing was locating the 15000 gallon tanks underground. I just put them under the driveway and used a concrete cover with a man hole that can be removed for servicing. (cleaning out the filters and adding chlorine once a month. ) The total cost of the system was $4000 but it has payed back $1200 in one year. The cool thing is that I was able to water my garden and wash my car during the drought with out fines and using city water. ;-) reply
